Let’s face it; we all can use a little help sleeping these days, Especially since lockdown has our plans and nerves running all over the place. Adding this traditional Indian drink to your nighttime routine will help you fall asleep and stay asleep through the night. Plus, it is jam-packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting properties derived from the main ingredient turmeric, a versatile Indian spice used in food, skincare, and for beauty. And let’s face it, with winter a-coming and this virus not ending, our immune systems could use all the boosting they can get.

Golden Milk (aka Turmeric Milk), frequently referred to as a healing drink, is extremely simple to make and is unbelievably delicious. For a restful sleep, try having turmeric milk 60–90 minutes before going to bed. Doing so will not only help you fall asleep but will also improve digestion. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp of Turmeric
  • 2 cups of Almond Milk
  • Cinnamon Stick or a pinch of Cinnamon Powder
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • Pinch of Black Pepper

Many health professionals believe that turmeric milk would not be as effective without that pinch of black pepper activating the power of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric. So let’s not skip that step.

Instructions:

Set pot on medium heat and add two cups of almond milk.

Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder and mix well.

Then add a cinnamon stick, a tablespoon of honey, and a pinch of black pepper.

Once all the ingredients are added, bring the pot to boil.

And there you have it — your hot cup of turmeric milk with its endless health benefits. Enjoy!
